Warning Signs

Warning sings of suicide can range from very apparent and obvious behavioral changes to subtle shifts in behavior or routine. Some telling warning signs to look out for are as follows:


  • Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs
  • Acting anxious, agitated or reckless
  • Sleeping too little or too much
  • Withdrawing or feeling isolated
  • Extreme mood swings
  • Talking about wanting to die or kill oneself
  • Talking about being a burden to others
  • Talking about feeling hopeless or having no purpose
  • Talking about feeling trapped or being in unbearable pain
  • Talking about seeking revenge


It is often hard to be sure what steps to take to help someone who is in this dark state of mind. It is important to treat the situation very delicately but also with seriousness. Here, we aim to provide to you insight on how to approach this difficult situation. It may be a heavy subject, but your efforts could save a life.
